La Carta di Identità Elettronica (CIE) è il nuovo documento d’identità dei cittadini italiani. Oltre ad accertare l’identità del titolare, la CIE è dotata anche di una componente elettronica che – grazie all’adozione delle più avanzate tecnologie disponibili e in conformità alla normativa europea – rappresenta l’identità digitale del cittadino.

Description

The Electronic Identity Card (CIE) is the new identity document for Italian citizens. In addition to certifying the holder’s identity, the CIE is also equipped with an electronic component which—thanks to the adoption of the most advanced technologies available and in compliance with European regulations—represents the citizen’s digital identity.

Se maggiorenni basta recarsi allo sportello preferibilmente previo appuntamento. 

Se la CIE deve essere rilasciata ad un minorenne è necessario che siano presenti entrambi i genitori, o altrimenti è necessario compilare il modulo autorizzativo per la validità all'espatrio. Se il minore ha più di 12 anni è necessario che sia presente per rilevare le impronte digitale e apporre la firma.

Nel caso di smarrimento è necessaria la denuncia dai Carabinieri.

How to Obtain a CIE

If you are of legal age, it is sufficient to go to the Municipality's office, preferably by appointment.

If the CIE is to be issued to a minor, both parents must be present; otherwise, an consent form for travel abroad signed by the other parent is necessary. If the minor is over 12 years old, they must be present to have their fingerprints taken and to provide a signature.

In the event of loss of the previous identity card, a report filed with the Carabinieri is required.

La CIE arriva in circa 10gg, nel frattempo viene rilasciato un documento valido però solo in Italia. 

La scadenza è:

• 10 anni per gli adulti
• 3 anni per i minori di età inferiore ai 3 anni 
• 5 anni per i minori in età compresa tra i 3 e i 18 anni

Timing and deadlines

The CIE is delivered in approximately 10 days; in the meantime, a temporary document is issued, valid only in Italy.

The validity period is:

• 10 years for adults

• 3 years for minors under 3 years of age

• 5 years for minors between 3 and 18 years of age
